Virtcon 2021 + Design Comp

Join us for Virtcon 2021, brought to you by The Cyberdeck Cafe. Dive into cyberspace together. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a Maker, Netrunner, Decker, Tech Pirate or something else all together new.

Spend the day with members of the Cyberpunk community sharing ideas, telling stories, networking and having fun. We have a great lineup of guest speakers and events planned and there's some awesome prizes up for grabs, details below.


As the name suggests Virtcon is a Virtual Convention for makers and will take place in two locations, Cyberdeck Cafe Discord server for the chat, links, afterparty and Cyberdeck Cafe YouTube channel for the live stream, click here and set a reminder.

Live stream runs from Feb 27th 5pm(MST) to 8pm, could run long as there’s a lot of great projects to showcase. Don’t worry if you cant make it the event will be available to watch later, minus the afterparty (Hosted by [EERadio] Frankie on the Discord server)

There are two competitions this time which will be referred to as comp-A and comp-B to prevent confusion. You may enter both but consider how you budget for time. The winners will be announced during the live stream.

Last years ZeroDays Con saw some amazing projects go from idea to physical creation in only a months time (Last years winner CyberBuffalo ) these designs had an emphasis on being small with a Pi Zero at its heart. This year think big!


Comp-A:

The Cyberdeck Cafe is looking for it’s next T-Shirt design and we want it to come from our awesome community members. Deadline is Noon(MST) Feb 25th.

Prize:

It’s a freaken 3D Printer! The VOXELAB Proxima Monochrome Resin Printer (within the USA)

For the rest outside USA if your design wins we’ll come up with something comparable.


Rules:

  • Design a Graphic-T with a Cyberpunk/Cyberdeck theme.

  • Must include the text “cyberdeck.cafe” at a readable size when printed on a shirt.

  • Copyright laws are hard, use best judgment.

  • Maximum 3 designs can be submitted per contestant.

  • Winning designs creator must grant exclusive rights to the Cyberdeck Cafe for use on our site and swag to qualify.

How To Enter:

Submit your design directly to bootdsc through Discord. You will need to include high resolution Images(4800x3600px minimum) as .png (put it all on a cloud drive and share access)


Comp-B:

Design a portable Cyberdeck, sounds easy enough. Deadline is Noon(MST) Feb 26th.


Prize:

For those with a FDM printer an EZFlex².

For those without TH3D will print & ship your design (within the USA)

For the rest outside USA if your design wins we’ll come up with something comparable.


Rules:

  • Cyberdeck minimum footprint of 200x100x15mm, Go big!

  • Must include Aluminum extrusion or tubing in the chassis to build off of, think structural stability.

  • Elements of existing Cyberdecks are allowed but no “borrowing” STL’s, make it an original design.

  • Make it easily transportable.

  • Maximum of 1 Cyberdeck design per contestant.

  • Include at minimum a SBC capable of running a full Desktop Linux OS

  • Any brand SBC(single board computer)

  • Arm or intel compatible.

  • Include a display for output.

  • Include a keyboard and or touch for input, keyboard can be detachable.

  • And again the most important rule is just have fun.

How To Enter:

Submit your design directly to bootdsc through Discord. Images, 3D models, Video, Graphic Art, Fake Ads , User Manual? The more rounded and complete your creation is the higher you will score.
