DeckComm Journal - First Transmission

I guess I’ll just start writing down a bit. I can’t do much anyway while my latest mesh firmware is getting burned on some neighbor's SSD. He just woke me up, saying he had to go and needed a DeckComm gateway up somewhere North. The damn Internet is down again and from the latest news, the riots are getting out of hand and that cut could last. Everyday is a constant reminder of the world we now live in; we wasted so much time on Facebook and Netflix, most people somewhat got distracted from the fact that it was the true leverage of power. Fuck them and their entertainment. They stole what truly mattered. They took knowledge from us.

14:00,

Getting cut off from the world pissed me off this morning but writing eased it. Might as well do that instead of... I don’t know. Since text files, small binaries and short messages is all what we can transmit freely over the air now, I might as well arrange a broadcast schedule and beam out some kind of journal. A testimony that I hope will get saved in a lot of DeckComms. Some data archaeologists might dig this up later.

Hey. Our mesh network should now be deployed enough to get something out of it. The main goal of these transmissions is to mainly to let off some steam, then to inform. In case the rest of my stream gets screwed, I’d appreciate to get QSA reports from people receiving me without any packet jump.

As many thought would happen, April's cut is still lasting for the most part of the country. In case you didn’t knew, only some rich neighborhoods magically still have access to the marvels of Netflix, Wikipedia and PornHub. But holy shit do they hold to it. Every time somebody try to set up a rogue PtP and smuggle some data out, things somewhat get known and some rich kids get pissed off when their Internet is cut, too. Eat a stick, moronface. You’ll stay in the dark too if I must. But now these kids are going full vigilante. Hide your antennas if you want to smuggle, friends. Things could get medieval on you if you get caught.

Even if the Internet comes back, it will be crippled. Never forget when some brave programmer screwed with Facebook’s status algorithm to remove its intention filter: suddenly, unaltered messages showed us how desperate everybody are. Your aunt’s trip to the cabin? Nope, that was getting tortured in a re-education camp. A cabin won’t make you that much patriotic.

I’ll take a moment of that data stream to contemplate and share how much I failed at data hoarding. Who gives a fuck about animes, now? Shit. I should have downloaded every datasheet and circuit diagram I came across. How do I miss the ease of distinguishing which one is a NOR gate between the 7402 and the 7403. How to know the pinout of a 2N2222A in a TO-39 package?

At least, I’m glad we can get some decent local bandwidth on these LoRa modems. I remember fondly (actually -- I don’t) when I got desperately high and bought that many RFM95s and Raspberry Pis, in some paranoia-driven bad-trip thinking about the crash of civilization. I wasn’t so far off. Who would have thought that unhappy people would gang up against upper class and governments ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Decentralized over-the-air communications if what will save us from mass slavery.

They can’t jam us all.
